The Politics of Representation: Reflections on Controversial
Issues in Museums and Related Places in Japan and Hawaii
This two-day symposium brings
together scholars and professionals from Japan and Hawaiʻi to discuss the
challenges of working in visitors’ centers, museums, historic sites, K-12 and
college classrooms, and other related places. Presenters will speak about their
experiences researching and preparing exhibits, consulting with scholars and
community stakeholders, talking to education specialists, and discussing
problems with museum board members and staff.
They will also describe
audience responses, reflect on their experiences, and share suggestions for the
future.
