Do you know of a historic
site that is threatened? Is there an opportunity to preserve it before it is
irretrievably lost? Are you or others working to save the site from demolition,
neglect, natural disaster or other threat?
Then nominate it to the 2013 list of
Hawaii’s Most Endangered Historic Sites!
Historic Hawai‘i Foundation
annually names Hawaii’s most endangered historic places in cooperation with Honolulu
Magazine and the Hawai‘i State Historic Preservation Division.
The list includes buildings,
objects, landscapes and communities and draws attention to contributors to
Hawaii’s priceless heritage that is threatened by demolition, neglect,
ignorance and apathy.
While this designation does
not protect or preserve the sites, it can raise awareness and motivate action.
Nominations are sought for threatened historic resources across the state.
Nomination deadline is July 31, 2013. Each
nomination requires a simple form, available at www.historichawaii.org, and submittal of at
least 2 digital photographs that show the historic property and the threat.
