Docomomo Hawaii presents a free talk story with Dr. Alfred A. Yee - August 13



TALK STORY SERIES: ALFRED YEE

Docomomo Hawaii is thrilled to host a talk by Dr. Alfred A. Yee, the pioneer of pre-cast concrete use in Hawaii!

WHEN: August 13, 2013 - 5:00pm
WHERE: WCIT Architecture, 725 Kapiolani Blvd, 4th Floor

Projects discussed will include: the USS Arizona Memorial, the Ilikai Hotel (1964), Queen Emma Gardens, the Ala Moana Hotel, the Unity House with its “Hawaiian I” beams, the Tree House Apartments (1959, pictured) supported by its “column trees,” and the Sandalwood Apartments (1964) which utilized a domino system of construction. All of these utilized pre-stressed concrete technologies patented by Dr. Yee.

The talk is FREE and open to the public.
